Acne Scars

What are acne scars?

Acne scars are the marks that remain on the skin after acne has healed

What causes acne scars?

  • Acne scars develop because inflammation during breakouts harms the skin tissue. This damage can cause an imbalance in collagen production during healing, leading to either raised or sunken scars.

Type of Acne

Atrophic scars

Sunken, shallow indentations that form beneath the skin’s surface. They often result from severe cystic acne

Boxcar scars

Wide, typically box-shaped indentations with well-defined edges. They can develop from extensive acne, chickenpox, varicella, a virus that caused red, itchy rash with blister.

Ice pick scars

Tiny, narrow pits that penetrate deeply into the skin. They are often found on the cheeks.

Rolling scars

Vary in depth and have gently sloping edges, giving the skin a wavy, uneven texture.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

Developed when skin is harmed by severe acne or from picking at acne spots.

Best treatment to treat

At Hanguk, we have several options available to deal with different types of skin concerns. A thorough assessment will first be done before coming up with a customised solution based on skin type & issues.

Microneedling Treatment:

Microneedling can effectively reduce the appearance of acne scars by stimulating collagen production. This treatment involves using tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, prompting the body's natural healing response and encouraging the formation of new collagen and elastin.
